Career criminal Richard Westervelt, 32, was sentenced to a total of 11 years in the Florida Department of Corrections after pleading no contest to charges stemming from crimes committed in both Flagler and Volusia Counties.
On Tuesday, April 23, at approximately 9:20 a.m. Deputy Carter conducted a traffic stop on a silver Chrysler sedan with a Wisconsin tag, for traveling 31 mph in a 20-mph school zone. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jayden Reed, a 17-year-old who said he was new to the area and did not realize he was driving through a school zone. Deputy Carter gave him a written warning.
On Tuesday, April 23, another outstanding fugitive from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office’s (FCSO) Operation Heartbreaker was arrested in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Early Thursday morning at approximately 3:15 a.m., Master Deputy Gaddie observed a white Durango SUV with illegal window tint, parked at the Circle K gas station on SR 100 in Palm Coast. The vehicle’s occupants were interacting with the occupants of a blue Chevrolet Malibu, also in the parking lot.
