Communications
(386) 313-4911 Non-Emergency
The Communications Section is a Combined Communications Center and is the primary focal point for public safety system throughout Flagler County.
The Communications Section is comprised of 17 staff member's of whom five are supervisors and one director. They are responsible for receiving and processing all calls for public safety assistance within the county.
Telecommunicators answer all incoming telephone calls received on emergency 9-1-1 lines, administrative non-emergency lines, and other various sources.
The calls are then dispatched to the appropriate resource such as: law enforcement, fire, or emergency medical units.
Beginning with the initial 9-1-1 call for help, and ending when the last public safety unit leaves the scene, the Communications Section is the lifeline of our organization and provides critical emergency services our community depends on.
Telecommunicators continuously interact with the public safety units they are responsible for: deploying them to calls, tracking their status, ensuring their safety, providing additional resources and support.
Telecommunicators also provide a great deal of information and referral services to the general public in times when they are uncertain where else to call.
For each call received, Telecommunicators must immediately extract critical information and perform a rapid triage to determine the location and type of call.
Calls received on 9-1-1 normally display the caller's phone number and location; however this information will be verbally verified to ensure accuracy.
Callers that use a cell phone to call 9-1-1 should know that their exact location is not available to the Telecommunicator.
