The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) employs over two hundred and fifty (250) employees in various positions: (SWORN) - law enforcement (Road and Corrections) and NON-SWORN - communications and administrative. Volunteer services such as Police Athletic League (PAL) and Citizens Observer Program (COP) also come under the auspices of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

In order to become an officer with our department, you must be Florida Certified in Law Enforcement. In you are certified outside of the state of Florida, you may be eligible to become Florida Certified without taking the six month course in Law Enforcement. This is the procedure you may follow in order to see what type of additional training you will need to become Florida Certified.

You may be asked to provide 98 hours of high liability training.
You will be required to take the State Examination.

 

Law Enforcement (Road Deputy or Detention Deputy) positions are considered open positions and remain on the web year round. All other positions are posted on the web for thirty days or until the position has been filled. If any applications are received after the closing date they are placed on file and are kept for two years. If a position opens which you find of interest, you may contact human resources to have your application retrieved and reviewed. It is the applicant's responsibility, to ensure information is current (education, address, telephone number, etc).
