Shannon Sandberg, Crime Analyst
Crime Analysis Unit
Crime analysis is a function within law enforcement that involves analyzing and identifying crime trends or patterns in crime. This information is obtained from data that is collected from reports on a daily basis. The analyst reviews arrests reports, calls for service, and community policing reports in order to identify areas of criminal activity so that strategies may be implemented to deploy patrol resources in a more effective manner. They analyze these phenomena for all relevant factors, sometimes predict or forecast future occurrences, and issue bulletins, maps, reports, and alerts.
