The strength of the bike unit is that it is a highly visible tool for community safety and commercial security, while having the ability to patrol residential, commercial and business areas, and perform other duties quickly and quietly.
The posse assists the Sheriff's Office in crime scene evidence and lost person searches in wooded areas where off road vehicles cannot access. The Posse assists local agencies during natural disasters, community awareness demonstrations at area elementary schools and public relations work through participating in area parades.
The Sheriff's Emergency Response Team or (SWAT) is a very highly trained and specialized unit. Their purpose is to provide the type of tactical response necessary to safely diffuse or bring to a closure certain types of high risk or threat situations.
These include but are not limited to barricaded or suicidal subjects, high risk search warrants and drug raids.
Utilizing specialized equipment and tactics, this team has provided an invaluable tool for the Sheriff's Office in enhancing the public safety.
The Canine Teams are used throughout the Sheriff's Office with many special units, to include: SWAT, Narcotic Enforcement Unit, School Resources Program and Criminal Investigation Section.
Two boats and two sworn law enforcement officers are assigned to this unit. In addition to crime prevention, the boats and their operators have been used in search and rescue missions on waterways throughout the county.
The Sheriff's Office Dive Team is trained to the level of proficiency, with equipment and resources available, to facilitate safe diving rescues when possible, and safe recoveries when rescues are not possible. The primary responsibility of the Dive Team is to provide expert diving support for law enforcement.
